Wagepoint is able to take garnishment deductions from employee net pay when you receive a court order or judgment from a third party.
Add a garnishment deduction within a people profile
1. In the navigation menu, go to People.
2. Locate the relevant person and select View.
3. Select the Incomes, deductions & benefits tab.
4. Under Deductions, click Add deductions.
5. In the slide-out window, select Garnishment by using the dropdown menu.
6. Populate the following fields based on the details in the garnishment letter:
- Amount ($ or %)
- Percent will calculate on gross pay.
- Note: If the garnishment order requires you to deduct a percentage of NET pay, you will need to manually calculate and advise the dollar figure each time.
- Max limit: the total balance of the garnishment amount to be taken.
- Beginning balance: any amount already paid by the employee towards the garnishment.
- Exemption: a dollar amount of the net pay that the garnishment calculation would not apply to.
- Frequency: once on the next pay, every pay, or custom
7. Click Save.
Please note: Wagepoint does not collect the garnishment from the company bank account and remit it to the third party. We only deduct the garnishment from the employee's pay. The money stays in the company bank account and needs to be remitted to the third party from your end.
