This article describes how to upgrade your 1.0 partner account to your 2.0 partner dashboard, as well as best practices to support a smooth transition.

If you already have a Wagepoint 2.0 partner account, then you should use the Partner Connect workflow instead.

Key takeaways:

  • Only the Account owner can complete the partner account upgrade.
  • The Partner Upgrade process itself takes less than 10 minutes.
  • There are four steps. If you do not pay fees on behalf of your clients, you can skip some of these steps.
  • When you've completed this process, you'll be able to upgrade eligible clients.

The Partner Upgrade workflow does not upgrade your clients from 1.0 to 2.0. This workflow only transfers your partner data from Wagepoint 1.0 to Wagepoint 2.0.

Overview: How does Partner Upgrade work?

Note: Only the Account owner can complete the partner account upgrade. You'll only need to do this step once -- all partner client administrators will be able to upgrade individual clients.

The Partner Upgrade process takes less than 10 minutes and consists of four steps:

  1. Step 1: Navigate to your upgrade tab
  2. Step 2: Assign an authorized signatory
(If you do not pay fees on behalf of clients, you can skip this step!)
Select your authorized signatory from the drop-down menu.
  3. Step 3: Confirm your upgrade
This step is our signal to build a bridge between your 1.0 and 2.0 partner accounts, so you can upgrade your clients while maintaining the association with your partner dashboard.
  4. Step 4: Set up your 2.0 account
Sign the PAD agreement if you'd like to pay fees on behalf of your clients, and customize your partner dashboard to your firm's needs.

After these steps, you'll be able to upgrade your eligible clients.

Step 1: Navigate to your upgrade tab

1. Log into your 1.0 Wagepoint partner account.

2. In the navigation menu, navigate to the Upgrade tab.

3. On the Upgrade tab, click Upgrade to 2.0.

Step 2: Assign an authorized signatory

If you do not pay fees on behalf of clients or do not have banking information in your 1.0, you'll skip this step.

4. In the Upgrade to 2.0 window, use the drop-down menu to select the administrator who acts as your authorized signatory. If this person is not in the drop-down list, you'll need to create an administrator profile for them first.

5. Click Assign and continue.

Step 3: Confirm your upgrade

6. Review the upgrade terms, and check the boxes to indicate your acknowledgement. Then, click Upgrade now.

You've successfully upgraded to the 2.0 Partner dashboard! You can now navigate to your Client directory and begin upgrading your eligible clients.

Step 4: Set up your 2.0 account

7. We'll send you an email when the upgrade is complete. Click Create your password in the email.

8. In the log in page, create your password and then log into your new account.

9. (If applicable) Sign the Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) agreement. If you do not pay fees on behalf of your clients and do not have any banking information associated with your partner account, you can skip this step.

  • Only the Authorized signatory can access and e-sign the PAD agreement. If you are not the authorized signatory, your authorized signatory will receive an email inviting them to create their 2.0 account. When they sign in, they will be prompted to complete this step.
  • The PAD must be completed before you are able to pay fees on behalf of your clients.
  • To sign the PAD agreement:
    • Click Sign the PAD on the dashboard

    • Under Pre-authorized debit (PAD) agreement, click E-sign.

    • E-sign the document in the new window and click Complete.
    • After you've e-signed the PAD, be sure to Save your changes before leaving the page.

10. (If applicable) Invite admins to manage your clients in 2.0. If you do not have any additional administrators in your partner account, you can skip this step.

You're now ready to upgrade any eligible clients!

FAQs: Upgrade your Partner account to 2.0

  • No, the discount structure in 2.0 is different. Your firm will automatically get access to the tier discount based on the number of active clients. Check out the Partner pricing guide for more details.
  • We recommend upgrading or connecting your partner account as soon as the option is available to you. This will allow you to familiarize yourself with your new 2.0 dashboard and check in on your client's deadlines as soon as possible.
  • All partners with at least one eligible client will have access to the Upgrade tab in their partner account. If you do not have access to the Upgrade tab, it means that none of your clients are yet eligible to upgrade.
  • No, but you will need to upgrade your clients by their deadline. You can view the deadline for each of your clients in your 1.0 Partner dashboard, once you've upgraded or connect your partner account to 2.0.
  • No, you can move your clients over at different times, as long as the accounts are upgraded by their associated deadline.
  • Only the Partner's account owner can initiate the upgrade.
  • Once you have upgraded, you will still be able to log into your 1.0 partner account and access your partner dashboard and remaining 1.0 clients as usual. Please note that any data added to 1.0 after the upgrade will not move over to 2.0. If you make additional changes in your 1.0 account, you will need to ensure that you are updating both apps accordingly.
  • No more than 10 minutes.
  • If the upgrade fails, you will see a failed message. Our team will reach out and instruct you regarding what to do next.
  • The Partner Account Owner and Authorized Signatory will receive an email notification. This notification will prompt both admins to create a password and log in to 2.0.
  • Yes. As soon as you upgrade, you have full access to Wagepoint 2.0.
  • Sure. But realize that we will be sunsetting 1.0 in the near future and are currently not doing any new features or development work on 1.0 as all hands are on the 2.0 deck right now. You’ll need to eventually move clients to 2.0.
