In this article, you'll find answers to some common questions about pricing, subscription, and billing in Wagepoint.

Looking for an in-depth guide to what is included in our subscriptions? We've got you covered with our pricing guide!

FAQs: General

  • Great question! We use a monthly subscription model and we have two plans: Solo and Unlimited. If you’re not sure which plan is best for you, check out our subscription and pricing guide here.
  • Our Solo plan is for businesses with one pay group, who run payroll once a month. Our Unlimited plan is, well, unlimited! You can have as many pay groups and run as many payrolls as you’d like each month, including off-cycles Both subscription plans include direct deposit, tax remittances, year-end reporting, ROEs, an employee portal, as well as all the other features you can read about here!
  • We have developed an online calculator that you can use to generate a personalized quote.
  • With the Unlimited plan, you’ll only be charged $5 once per active employee, per billing period, no matter how many times you pay them. With the Solo plan, you’ll be charged $4 once per active employee, per billing period. That said, you are limited to running only one payroll a month.
  • An active employee is an employee who is paid during the relevant subscription period. If an individual is on leave or terminated, for example, they are not considered active.
  • Nope, team members who are on leave or terminated do not count toward monthly totals for billing purposes. The individuals must be paid during the billing period to count towards the total.
  • The Solo plan includes one pay group and one payroll per month, while the Unlimited plan includes multiple pay groups and unlimited pay runs each month (including extra payroll runs, in case you want to run an additional bonus or missed payment cycle, for example).
Both subscription plans include direct deposit, tax remittances, year-end reporting, records of employment, an employee portal, as well as all the other features you can read about here!
  • There are no integration fees in Wagepoint. However, you will need to subscribe to tools like Time by Wagepoint and People by Wagepoint separately, and pay the additional costs of those tools.

FAQs: Trial

  • Yes! If you are a new customer, you can give us a test run for 14 days absolutely free. All of our features will be available during a trial, including running payroll (if your company is verified). Start your free trial today!
  • If you have not run any payrolls and you close your account, your information will be deleted. If you have run payroll and close your account, we are required to store the information for 7 years.

FAQs: Changing plans

  • That’s the beauty of our pricing model. You can change your subscription at any time.
If you run payroll more than once a month, or if you have multiple pay groups, then the Unlimited plan is the best fit for you. If you run only one payroll a month for a single pay group, then we recommend the Solo plan.
  • Follow the step-by-step instructions here!
  • When you change your subscription plan, it will take effect immediately and you’ll be pro-rated for the days on each plan.

FAQs: Billing

  • You will receive monthly invoices on the last day of your billing period. For example, if you start your 14-day free trial on the 1st and want to move forward with Wagepoint after your trial is over, your monthly subscription will start on the 15th and you will be invoiced on the 15th of the following month.
If a bookkeeper or accountant is paying fees on behalf of their clients, they’ll be billed on the 1st of the month for all clients in the prior month.
  • You can manage your subscription and view invoices by navigating to Settings > Subscription.
  • The net pay is the employee pay amount. The source pay is the amount remitted to the CRA on your behalf (from source deductions). In addition, when your billing period is complete, you will see an amount invoiced for the cost of your Wagepoint subscription.

FAQs: Solo plan

  • No. If you’re on the Solo plan, you’ll need to upgrade to the Unlimited plan for that billing cycle. You can change your subscription afterwards.
  • No. If you’re on the Solo plan, you’ll need to upgrade to the Unlimited plan to run payroll for multiple pay groups.
  • Your subscription is based on your billing cycle. You can view your billing cycle by navigating to Settings > Subscription.

FAQs: Unlimited plan

  • Nope! If you have multiple pay groups on the Unlimited plan, you’ll only be charged $40 (+$5 per employee/contractor) once per billing cycle no matter how many pay groups you are processing payroll for. That’s why we named it Unlimited!
  • Nope! The Unlimited plan is all-you-can-payroll You can have as many pay groups and run as much payroll, including extra or off-cycle pay runs, as you want within the month.

FAQs: Special rates and discounts

  • Get in touch with your bookkeeper and accountant to learn about any discounts.

FAQs: Data retention

  • Due to the nature of payroll data, we are required to maintain records for a minimum of 6 years from the end of the last relevant tax year. This is in compliance with CRA guidelines. Whether or not you maintain a Wagepoint subscription, we must maintain the records for a minimum of 6 years.

To formally remove this data prior to that point, we would need permission from the CRA to destroy the data. If you would like to destroy your data earlier than the required time, please contact the CRA.

In terms of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), we can delete your banking information. Please reach out to support@wagepoint.com if you would like to request that we do this. All other PII (Name, Address, SIN) are directly related to your payroll data and cannot be removed without the permission of the CRA.
