Overview: Roles & permissions page
The Roles and permissions page is where you can manage:
- what user accounts have administrator access
- what administrators have access to in your company account
- what employees and contractors have access to in their Employee portals
At a glance, the Roles and permissions page shows the Roles available in your account as well as the number of individuals assigned to that Role. To view the permissions and people associated with each Role, locate the relevant role in the table and click View.

Roles
Every user in your Wagepoint account has a Role.
The user's Role determines the permissions and notifications for that user. Each will be able to log into their own Wagepoint account, but each can view and edit different information in your company's account and/or the employee portal.
There are five administrator roles and two employee portal roles:
- Administrator roles
- Account owner: This person is in charge of the entire account's operation
- Authorized signatory: this person is in charge of banking and has the authority to sign cheques on the company's behalf
- Payroll administrator: this person is in charge of the account's payroll
- Manager: this person is in charge of the people in their department
- Report administrator: this person has access to the company's payroll and billing reports
- Employee portal roles
- Employee
- Contractor

FAQ: Employee and contractor roles and permissions
-
1. Under Employee portal, locate the relevant role and click View.
2. Click Employees with access.
3. Employees with access to the Employee portal will appear in this table.- Under Last logged in, you can view the last time the employee logged in. If no time appears here, then the employee has not yet logged in.
- Yes, an administrator-employee is shown in the Employee portal count as well.
- This number reflects the number of invitations sent. To see who has logged in, refer to the Employees with access tab under the Last logged in column.
- If you are unable to select one or more self-onboarding options for your employees or contractors, it's likely that you have the permission setting turned off. You'll need to edit the permissions settings for employees and contractors to View & Edit. Then, the option will become available to you. You'll find step-by-step instructions for this workflow above under Edit permissions for an employee or contractor role.
- Your client will need to adjust the permissions settings of your role (either Payroll or Report administrator) to allow you to access these settings. We cannot do this for you, it must be done by the Account owner or someone else who has been given access by the Account owner.
- In this case, there are a couple things to check:
- Is the individual's email address correct? You can check this in their employee profile or the administrator list.
- Has the individual's account been disabled? Navigate to Settings > Roles & permissions, locate the relevant role and click View. On the Employees/Contractors with access tab, click Show filters, select "View disabled access" from the drop-down menu, and click Apply. If the individual's account has been disabled, it will appear here. You can find more details about this workflow in this article under "Re-enable access to the Employee portal".
- Has the individual checked their spam folder?
- Has the individual already logged into their employee portal? To check this: Navigate to Settings > Roles & permissions, locate the relevant role and click View. On the Employees/Contractors with access tab, locate the relevant individual and review the Last logged in column. If they have logged in, they should be able to reset their password, rather than you sending an invitation.
- If none of these strategies work, reach out to us at support@wagepoint.com for further assistance. Note that for security reasons, please reach out from your administrator account. We will not engage with employees directly.
