Update payroll account number or remittance schedule (CRA)

If you are changing your payroll account number, please ensure you've processed the final payroll under this existing number and requested ROEs (if applicable). You will not be able to request ROEs under the prior payroll account number after you make the change. 

Update a payroll account number

  1. If you require tax forms to be submitted under the old business number, please reach out to Customer Support for next steps before continuing.
  2. In the navigation menu, go to Settings.
  3. Under Tax settings, click Source deductions.
  4. Click Edit. If you have not yet processed payroll, make the necessary changes and skip to Step 8.
  5. Find the relevant field and click Update
  6. Indicate your reason for updating the account number as well as your new account number and the effective date of the change. Click Next.
    Note: If the current account number was entered incorrectly you will need to reach out to our customer support team.
  7. Select whether you would like your remaining tax credit account to be transferred to your new account, not transferred to a new account, or if you want to decide at a later time, then click Update.
  8. Choose the effective date of this change. Remittances will be sent to the new account for any pay dates that fall on or after the selected effective date.
  9. Click Update.
  10. Click Save on the main page.

Update your CRA remittance schedule

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will sometimes evaluate the total earnings of a company and re-assign them a new remittance frequency. This typically only happens once a year, at the end of the year. They will notify the company of the updated remittance schedule and it is the company’s responsibility to update the system.

  1. In the navigation menu, go to Settings.
  2. Under Tax settings, click Source deductions.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Under Remittance schedule, click Update.
  5. Select the new remittance schedule assigned by the CRA and enter the effective date of the change.
  6. Click Update.
  7. Click Save on the main page.

Quarterly Remittance Schedule

Although some clients may qualify for a quarterly remittance, at Wagepoint – we remit monthly for all remittance schedules other than those that require accelerated threshold 1 or 2 (click here for threshold explanations). Please choose Non-Accelerated as your frequency if your company has been assigned a quarterly remittance frequency.
